Heike Krieger holds the Chair for International and Public Law at the Freie Universität Berlin. She is Chair of the Berlin-Potsdam Research Group (KFG) “The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?” and has been Max Planck Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg between 2017 and 2021. She has, inter alia, taught at the Universities of Göttingen, Nottingham, and the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies, London. Between 2007 and 2014 she acted as a judge of the Constitutional Court of the State of Berlin. She has represented the German parliament before the German Constitutional Court and acted as counsel for the German government before the European Court of Human Rights. She is a member of the Holberg Committee. Her research focusses on general international law, international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

 

Heike Krieger is Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law (T.M.C. Asser Press and Springer) and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Conflict and Security Law (Oxford University Press). Her recent publications include the edited volumes “Legitimacy and Law-making in International Humanitarian Law” (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2021; ed.); “Due Diligence in the International Legal Order” (Oxford University Press, 2020; ed. together with A. Peters and L. Kreuzer), “The Legal Pluriverse Surrounding Multinational Military Operations” (Oxford University Press, 2020, 512pp., ed. together with R. Geiß) and “The International Rule of Law: Rise or Decline? Approaching current foundational challenges” (Oxford University Press, 2019, 400pp.; ed. together with G. Nolte and A. Zimmermann).
