In preparation for the Regional Round in Porto, the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition team for the Freie Universität had the honour of visiting two renowned law firms: Gleiss Lutz and Redeker Sellner Dahs.

We started out by going to Gleiss Lutz on the 30th of January. The event was organised by Christoph Schoppe and Thomas Fritsche. The lawyers Simon Clemens Wegmann, Dr. Xiao Chen, and Malte Benfeldt kindly acted as judges for the pleadings and challenged us with some interesting questions. We are very thankful to the organisers for having taken the time to make this event possible and to the lawyers whose feedback is very valuable. Coming from various legal fields, the practitioners all approached the case from different and new perspectives, which led to an extremely interesting pleading.

The next day, we headed to Redeker Sellner Dahs. There, we were welcomed by Dr. Christian Johann, Konstantin Welker, and Hannah Zigelski. We are very thankful for the time they took to help in our preparation process. The wide variety of challenging questions which were asked will undoubtedly prove to be helpful once in Porto. It was further insightful to get to know the firm’s work with the European Court of Human Rights.

In preparation for the Regional Round, the team is also grateful to Professor Dr. Christian Calliess and Professor Dr. Torben Ellerbrok who took the time to plead with us. Their insightful questions and valuable feedback will surely facilitate a successful pleading for our Regional Round in Porto which takes place from 10th to 12th of February 2025.
