Online Course "Comparative Law and Rights" of the University of Connecticut School of Law for Credit Transfer
News vom 04.11.2024
Our long-time partner in Hartford, the University of Connecticut School of Law, offers FU Law students to participate in the online course "Comparative Law and Rights" taught by Professor Dr. Ángel Oquendo in the spring of 2025.
Once successfully completed at the University of Connecticut, this course will be transferred to the student's records at Freie Universität Berlin with 5 ECTS credits.
Grade conversion will follow the table for study abroad at the University of Connecticut School of Law as approved by the Examination Committee. The table is shown on the webpage https://www.jura.fu-berlin.de/international/studierendenaustausch/outgoings/partnerunis/uconn_double-degree/index.html under the headline "Grade Conversion".
This is a regular course at the University of Connecticut. It will take place online, via video conference, in the U.S. spring term. Teaching in the spring term starts on 21 January 2025 and ends on 2 May 2025.
Class time (with mandatory online attendance) is on Wednesdays from 4 - 6:30 pm local time (Hartford, Connecticut), which translates to a 5- to 6-hour time difference in Berlin depending on the daylight saving.
Target Group
Degree-seeking students: This course will be recognised as a module "Fremdpsprachenfachkompetenz A" or "B"
Non-degree-seeking exchange students: This course will be listed on your transcript of records for the spring term.
Grading
For the most part, the grade will rest on a three-hour, open-book, in-person final exam (at Freie Universität Berlin) toward the end of the semester (most probably in May or June). It may climb up a notch (never down) on the basis of oral participation.
